First 10 minutes

Tell your child that dying just puts Leo back a few steps (TheXboxHub), and that stars (all coins, no deaths, beat the time) are optional extras. On phones the touch controls take some getting used to; Pocket Gamer says you can switch to on-screen buttons. Nobody on our team has played the opening yet.

Good to know: CSM (mobile app review) rates it age 7+. 20 story levels in five acts plus bonus levels (TheXboxHub). Paid game; CSM found no in-app purchase pitches. Platform differences: originally a touch-screen mobile game (iOS, Android); the HD version is on PC/Mac, PS4, Xbox One and Switch (Wikipedia; Switch version released Nov 2024 per Nintendo). On console you use the stick or D-pad plus buttons (TheXboxHub). CSM says touch controls can feel imprecise; Pocket Gamer says on-screen buttons are an option on mobile. ESRB: E for the PS4 HD Edition (ESRB record) and E with Mild Fantasy Violence on Switch (Nintendo store).

Sensory scale

Each item is scored from 0 to 3: 0 = None; 1 = Mild, or can be turned off; 2 = Frequent; 3 = Intense and can’t be avoided. “Not enough info yet” means we couldn’t find good evidence, so we didn’t guess. For “Ease of stopping”, a higher score means it’s harder to stop.

Mode: Story levels (single-player)

Sensory scores for Leo's Fortune, Story levels (single-player)
What we checkScoreWhy
Flashing or strobe effects Not enough info yet No source on flashing. TouchArcade mentions 'great weather effects'. Source for Flashing or strobe effects, Story levels (single-player)
Sudden loud sounds Not enough info yet No source on sudden loud sounds. TheXboxHub: music is smooth and relaxing, with trap sound effects over it, and Leo shouts a line when he meets a new puzzle or trap. Source for Sudden loud sounds, Story levels (single-player)
Timers or time pressure 1 of 3
Mild, or can be turned off
No countdown in normal play, but one of each level's three stars is for finishing within a time limit (TheXboxHub; Wikipedia). Stars are optional and only unlock bonus levels. Source for Timers or time pressure, Story levels (single-player)
Failure and losing 1 of 3
Mild, or can be turned off
No lives system: when Leo dies he respawns slightly before where he died, without losing progress; the only penalty is missing the 'no deaths' star (TheXboxHub). An optional Hardcore mode (unlocked after the story) asks you to finish all 20 levels in a row without dying (TheXboxHub). Source for Failure and losing, Story levels (single-player)
Difficulty spikes 2 of 3
Frequent
CSM: the game relies on split-second timing, and the controls aren't as precise as many players would like; finishing levels isn't necessarily hard, but getting three stars can be. TheXboxHub: some later levels have 'seriously tricky puzzles'. No difficulty settings (TheXboxHub). Source for Difficulty spikes, Story levels (single-player)
Scary content and jump scares 1 of 3
Mild, or can be turned off
ESRB: E (Mild Fantasy Violence on Switch, Nintendo). CSM: Leo can die frequently on spiked objects, but no pain or blood is shown. TouchArcade: some traps are hard to see. Source for Scary content and jump scares, Story levels (single-player)
Screen motion and camera speed Not enough info yet No source on screen or camera motion. It's a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer (Wikipedia); TouchArcade describes Leo as 'floaty' and quick to accelerate. Source for Screen motion and camera speed, Story levels (single-player)
Competition and online strangers 0 of 3
None
Single-player (Nintendo store; Wikipedia). CSM: no in-app purchase pitches on mobile. Source for Competition and online strangers, Story levels (single-player)
Ease of stopping 1 of 3
Mild, or can be turned off
Story levels are short, about five minutes each (TheXboxHub), with respawn points along the way. Source for Ease of stopping, Story levels (single-player)

Still checking: Check whether quitting mid-level keeps your progress or restarts the level.

Reading load and text speed Not enough info yet No source on reading load. The story is told in cutscenes (TouchArcade; TheXboxHub), and Leo has spoken lines (TheXboxHub). Source for Reading load and text speed, Story levels (single-player)
