First 10 minutes
In the options, turn on Invulnerability if losing is hard for your child (Ubisoft). If camera movement bothers them, turn off camera shake, auto-camera and technique cinematics (Ubisoft accessibility list). Nobody on our team has played the opening yet.
Good to know: Battles are turn-based, which parents of kids with motor-planning challenges often prefer (FGD: no quick reactions needed in battle). Hero upgrades can be managed automatically (Ubisoft).
Sensory scale
Each item is scored from 0 to 3: 0 = None; 1 = Mild, or can be turned off; 2 = Frequent; 3 = Intense and can’t be avoided. “Not enough info yet” means we couldn’t find good evidence, so we didn’t guess. For “Ease of stopping”, a higher score means it’s harder to stop.
Mode: Story with Invulnerability turned on
| What we check | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Flashing or strobe effects | Not enough info yet | No game-specific source on flashing. ESRB: battles are 'highlighted by explosions and futuristic/cartoony gunfire'. | Sudden loud sounds | Not enough info yet | No source on sudden loud sounds. Separate volume sliders for ambient sound, music, sound effects, voices and menus (Ubisoft). Source for Sudden loud sounds, Story with Invulnerability turned on |
| Timers or time pressure | 1 of 3 | Battles are turn-based, and you have as long as you need each turn (FGD). In the open world, enemies can chase you, and FGD says quick reactions are needed to finish the story. Optional bonus challenges are timed (FGD). FGD lists No Screen Shake and Motion Sickness Friendly. ESRB mentions slow-motion effects in cutscenes and attacks. Source for Screen motion and camera speed, Story with Invulnerability turned on |
| Competition and online strangers | 0 of 3 | Single-player only (FGD: 1 player). ESRB lists no online interaction, only In-Game Purchases (add-on content and a season pass, per Common Sense Media). Source for Competition and online strangers, Story with Invulnerability turned on |
| Ease of stopping | 1 of 3 | There are manual saves and autosaves (Ubisoft parents guide), but FGD says you can't save in the middle of a fight. Source for Ease of stopping, Story with Invulnerability turned on |
| Reading load and text speed | 0 of 3 | FGD: Simple Minimal Reading, and all dialogue is voice acted with subtitles. Can I Play That also says dialogue is fully voiced. Text is high contrast but sometimes small, and the size can't be changed (FGD; Can I Play That). Source for Reading load and text speed, Story with Invulnerability turned on Still checking: A parent comment said there is no voiced dialogue, but FGD and Can I Play That both say it is fully voiced. The Rabbids may talk in gibberish. Please check. Skill descriptions may still need an adult to read them. |
