First 10 minutes

In Settings, set Day Length to Relaxed so each day lasts longer (Paleo Pines dev team on Steam). Turn on larger text and high contrast if they help (Windows Central). Before stopping, go back to the house and choose 'Write in your diary' to save (GameSpew). Nobody on our team has played the opening yet.

Good to know: Lead from a parent: a dino running away caused a meltdown. Official sources confirm dinos can run off but are never lost for good (official FAQ). FGD hasn't assessed this game yet, so many items are unknown. Paid add-on content exists (FGD lists In-Game Purchases).

Sensory scale

Each item is scored from 0 to 3: 0 = None; 1 = Mild, or can be turned off; 2 = Frequent; 3 = Intense and can’t be avoided. “Not enough info yet” means we couldn’t find good evidence, so we didn’t guess. For “Ease of stopping”, a higher score means it’s harder to stop.

Mode: Ranch life (single-player)

Sensory scores for Paleo Pines, Ranch life (single-player)
What we checkScoreWhy
Flashing or strobe effects Not enough info yet No source found on flashing or strobe effects. Source for Flashing or strobe effects, Ranch life (single-player)
Sudden loud sounds Not enough info yet No source on sudden loud sounds. Reviews mention several volume sliders (Steam Deck HQ). Source for Sudden loud sounds, Ranch life (single-player)
Timers or time pressure 1 of 3
Mild, or can be turned off
An in-game day clock runs. A Day Length setting (Rushed, Standard, Relaxed) lets you slow it down (Paleo Pines dev team on Steam). Windows Central: no timers or fail states. Source for Timers or time pressure, Ranch life (single-player)

Still checking: How long each day lasts on Relaxed isn't from an official source. Please check.

Failure and losing 2 of 3
Frequent
While you're befriending a wild dino, it runs away if it gets too excited or too bored (Gamepur). Dinos on your ranch never die, but they may leave if neglected, and you can find them again (official FAQ). Source for Failure and losing, Ranch life (single-player)

Still checking: Scored 2 because dinos running away happens during normal play. Please confirm how often a careful player sees it.

Difficulty spikes Not enough info yet No source on difficulty settings or spikes. Windows Central describes it as low-stress. TechRadar says dino care has specific needs and is harder than taming. Source for Difficulty spikes, Ranch life (single-player)
Scary content and jump scares 0 of 3
None
Official FAQ: dinos never die or kill each other. ESRB: rated E with no content descriptors. TechRadar: you never have to fear for your life around dinos. Source for Scary content and jump scares, Ranch life (single-player)
Screen motion and camera speed Not enough info yet No source on camera speed or screen shake. Distant-object blur can be turned off, and a walk mode slows your character (TechRadar; Windows Central). Source for Screen motion and camera speed, Ranch life (single-player)
Competition and online strangers 0 of 3
None
Single-player only (official FAQ). ESRB: no interactive elements. Source for Competition and online strangers, Ranch life (single-player)
Ease of stopping 2 of 3
Frequent
There's no save option in the pause menu. You save by writing in the diary at your house or by going to sleep (GameSpew), so you may need to walk home before stopping. Windows Central notes there's no fast travel. Source for Ease of stopping, Ranch life (single-player)

Still checking: Players report autosaves when you enter an area. If that's confirmed, this could drop to 1.

Reading load and text speed Not enough info yet No source on reading level. There's an option for larger dialogue text and a high-contrast mode (Windows Central; TechRadar). Quests are tracked in a journal (TechRadar). Source for Reading load and text speed, Ranch life (single-player)
